Mandalas, Elsewhere China and Elsewhere Rainbow | Hillerbrand+Magsamen
The mandalas Elsewhere China and Elsewhere Rainbow by Hillerbrand and Magsamen were constructed out of collection materials. They are part of an ongoing series in which the artists examine their relationship to the material goods that sustain and provide structure to their lives.
As Mary Magsamen notes, the mandalas can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself–a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.
